‘SHOP GILBERT’ LAUNCHES NEW, SEARCHABLE RETAILER WEBSITE

GILBERT, Ariz. – Shop Gilbert, the community’s grassroots campaign to encourage residents to shop in and keep tax revenue in Gilbert, has launched a new, upgraded website with advanced search features to find retailers in support of the campaign.

The new website, www.shopgilbertaz.com, allows residents to search for Gilbert retailers by company name or ZIP code and category type with search results displayed on a map for further information.

“It was time to take this campaign to the next level,” said Kathy Tilque, president and CEO of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce. “The [Shop Gilbert] committee wanted to make it easier for residents to find products and services within town limits to further encourage them to shop in Gilbert rather than crossing into another community.”

The contract for the website’s renovation was awarded early this year to 5 Pints Productions, a Gilbert-owned business.

“The truth of the matter is that, as a Gilbert resident operating a Gilbert-based business, I was extremely happy to be involved in producing something that would aid all participating Gilbert-based businesses and provide a better way for residents and visitors to locate Gilbert businesses,” said Justin Clegg, owner of 5 Pints Production. “Since 2004 my wife and I have been residents of Gilbert, I happily shop in Gilbert, my children attend school in Gilbert, I conduct business with other Gilbert businesses and I have many friends from Gilbert, so as someone who loves the town I live in I was extremely happy to be involved in this project.”

Shop Gilbert enrollment is free to Gilbert retailers and includes a basic listing on the website, including contact information. Enhanced listings, including logo placement, animation, specials/promotional offers, and video content are available for an additional fee. Features and pricing can be found on the website under “membership information”.

The Shop Gilbert campaign is a grassroots effort to encourage residents to put their money where their house is and keep tax dollars in Gilbert. Sales tax dollars are a critical revenue source of Gilbert. They fund ongoing daily operations including parks and recreation programs, public safety workshops, library materials, and more. Shop Gilbert is sponsored by the Town of Gilbert, The Gilbert Republic, and the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce.

The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit, membership-based organization with more than 550 members ranging from home-based businesses to large corporations and representing more than 51,700 employees.
