Annual Event Honored Nominees for Outstanding Leadership and Achievements

GILBERT –The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce honored today business leaders and nominees for the Businessman and Businesswoman of the Year award at a luncheon and award ceremony, sponsored by Cox Business.

The Businessman of the Year award was presented to Kevin DeRosa of Advance Paper & Maintenance Supply.  “I have a passion for helping others. I believe that givers gain and that if I truly wish to help others that good things will eventually come back to me,” DeRosa said. “I love connecting people and giving those in my network of associates quality referrals.”

Honorees for the Businessman of the Year award included Tad Peelen of Joe’s Real BBQ, Rustyn Sherer of APS, and Ralph Willett of Willett CPA.

The Businesswoman of the Year award was presented to Barbara Starley of Toolbox 4 Entreprenuers.  “My entire business was constructed on a foundation of mentorship, partnership and development of my clients and their employees,” Barbara said. “I believe small business owners are the backbone to our economy and their success will ultimately benefit generations to come.”

Honorees for the Businesswoman of the Year award included Emily Evans of Aflac, Tracey Groy of Willow Massage + Spa, Dr. Christina Kishimoto of Gilbert Public Schools, Debbie Newport of Sunrise Senior Living of Gilbert, and Alice Woodard of Printwerx.

To be considered for these awards, men and women are nominated by their peers. Once nominated, they must submit a written questionnaire and participate in a personal interview. The questionnaire is reviewed and the nominees are interviewed by a panel of business professionals. This panel submits their recommendation for each award to the Chamber’s Board of Directors for final review and approval.
