GILBERT BUSINESSES AND LEADERS TO BE HONORED AT 16TH ANNUAL EVENT
GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Gilbert Public Schools, The Gilbert Republic, Higley Unified School District, the Town of Gilbert and Chandler-Gilbert Community College, will honor outstanding businesses and individuals at the 2011 Gilbert Community Excellence Awards on Wednesday, November 2nd.
The following award recipients will be recognized:

Mayoral Award – Gilbert Fire Chief Collin DeWitt
Mayoral Volunteer of the Year Award – Gilbert Judge David Phares
Neighborhood of the Year Award – Silverhawke
Public Service Award – Louis Andersen, Solid Waste Superintendent

Gilbert Education Support Staff of the Year Award – John Volk, physical therapist at GPS
Gilbert Volunteer of the Year Award – Cyndi Palmer, parent at Gilbert Jr. High School
Gilbert Educator of the Year Award – Danita Young, third grade teacher at Val Vista Lakes Elementary
Higley Unified School District
Higley Support Staff of the Year Award – Peggy Carpenter, Governing School Board Secretary

Awards will be presented by each of the event’s partners and will include the popular Taste of Gilbert restaurant showcase.
