Asks Community For Help To Fulfill Wish Lists of Low-Income, Homebound Seniors
GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce will organize the fourth annual Adopt A Senior program this holiday season to benefit Gilbert’s homebound and low-income senior citizens, in partnership with the Gilbert Senior Center.
The Chamber will collect holiday wish lists from Gilbert’s home-bound or low-income seniors with help from the Gilbert Senior Center and is asking members of the community to adopt a senior by requesting a wish list, then shopping for and returning the items to the Chamber by December 6th. An average list costs $25 and may include a number of needed items.
In addition, the Chamber is seeking the donation of miscellaneous items in quantities of 50 or more and will use these items to make up goody bags that are distributed to low-income seniors at a holiday party hosted by the Chamber. Donated items often range from magnets to mouthwash and can be anything that would be useful or appreciated by a senior.
“It is hugely rewarding on a personal level to be able to share in the holiday spirit with these recipients. They are always so gracious,” said Kathy Tilque, president and CEO of the Gilbert Chamber.
To fulfill a wish list or provide donations for the goody bags, please contact the Chamber by phone at (480) 892-0056, ext. 107 or send an e-mail to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Monetary donations are accepted and will be used to purchase gift cards for unfulfilled wish lists. Donations can be sent to the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 527, Gilbert, AZ 85299.
