Chamber Endorses Pro-Business Candidates for District 22 Races

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 28, 2010

GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce announced today the endorsement of District 22 candidates in an effort to educate its membership and the business community about those candidates who will best be a friend of business while in office.

“District 22 candidates were invited to participate in a questionnaire and candidate forum”, said Kathy Tilque, president and CEO of the Gilbert Chamber. “Each candidate was scored on their ability to recognize and understand business issues, demonstrate support for business priorities as well as their background and experience. The process also accounted for an informal survey of our members present at the forum.”

The Chamber’s formal endorsement policy and official positions on business issues were used as the foundation of this ranking.

“We were quite impressed with the caliber of District 22 candidates. As a business organization, we were extremely pleased with the depth of understanding of issues that may impact the business community,” said JW Rayhons, Chairman of the Board. “The good news is that the community has a great slate of candidates to choose from which made it quite challenging to identify those candidates whose experience and understanding would best support the needs of business.”

After careful consideration, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Andy Biggs for the state Senate seat and candidates Eddie Farnsworth, Laurin Hendrix, and Steve Urie for the state House seats.

Written responses to the Chamber’s questionnaire and video clips from all District 22 candidates can be found on the Chamber’s website, gilbertaz.com.
