GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has collaborated with strategic community partners to form Partners In Progress, a program with the purpose of developing a long-term, sustainable business retention and growth model to facilitate the further expansion of Gilbert’s business environment.
Partners in Progress collaborative partners include Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Gilbert, and the program has gained founding contributions by Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Orbital Sciences Corp.

The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce will award scholarships to local high school seniors as part of the Chamber’s Scholarship Program in partnership between the Chamber, Gilbert Public Schools, and Higley Unified School District.
“Had it not been for your generosity, it would not have been easy for me to purchase many things that I needed for school,” said 2011 Scholarship Recipient Christian Castro in a letter written to the Chamber. “My plan is to give back to the community that has supported me in my academic endeavors.”

Historical Plaques to Guide Participants through the Gilbert Heritage District and to the Gilbert Historical Museum
February 8, 2012 (Gilbert, AZ) – Gilbert Leadership, a program of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, is creating a series of commemorative plaques that will be placed on the historic sites of downtown Gilbert. Approximately 15 to 17 plaques will include a picture of the building from the past as well as a brief description about the building, location or event. Brochures with a map will be available at the Gilbert Historical Museum and Gilbert Heritage District merchants to guide participants through the Heritage District of downtown Gilbert. The History Walk will be in place by the end of April this year.

GOLFERS TO RAISE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has partnered with San Tan Ford to present the Third Annual Scholars Golf Tournament and will donate partial proceeds to fund scholarships for local high school seniors.
Last year, the Chamber awarded $3,600 in scholarships to students participating in the Scholars Program in the Gilbert Public Schools and Higley Unified School Districts.

GILBERT – The Gilbert Office of Economic Development and the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce are offering one-on-one business coaching sessions for Gilbert-based entrepreneurs and small business enterprises through June 30, 2012.
As an extension of the Front Runner Business Assistance entrepreneurial program, the business coaching sessions are offered free-of-charge and will be administered through Stealthmode Partners.

Chamber to Host an Informational Meeting Next Month
GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Chamber Explorations to present Discover Cuba, a nine-day group travel opportunity, and will host an informational meeting this month for the public to learn more about the trip.
The informational meeting will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 5:30 p.m. at the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, 119 N. Gilbert Road, Ste. 101, in Gilbert. A representative of Chamber Explorations will review the travel itinerary and answer general questions regarding the Discover Cuba expedition. Itinerary highlights include visits to museums, local villages, prehistoric painted caves, cathedrals, botanical gardens, a sugar plantation – even a farm owned by Ernest Hemingway.
