TEAM BUILDING
Team Building is an opportunity to get to know your fellow class members, build camaraderie, enhance leadership skills and overcome obstacles and build confidence in yourself and your classmates.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Review and discuss the qualities of effective vs. ineffective leaders, identify leadership styles in various types of organizations, identify various communication styles and learn how to communicate with a variety of communications styles.

HISTORY
Learn the history of Gilbert's development and meet individuals integral to Gilbert's past, present and future.

EDUCATION
Gain an understanding of the rich educational options that are available in Gilbert and the East Valley, from the elementary years through undergraduate degrees, as well as professional and personal development. Understand how a robust education infrastructure contributes to a strong community; and enjoy culinary creations prepared by Gilbert Public School’s finest Culinary Arts students.

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SERVICES
Demonstrate the continuum of healthcare in Gilbert, discover “Hot Issues” in healthcare today, learn about types of social services available to the citizens of Gilbert and become actively involved in volunteer activities.

FINE ARTS
Learn about Fine Arts in Gilbert and the East Valley, showcase local artists and performers, tour of Hale Theatre and CGCC performing arts facilities.


LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Provide an overview of the Town of Gilbert as an organization. Provide information regarding the Town’s services, revenue sources, budget, and regional relationships. Tour Town of Gilbert facilities and provide department specific information, discuss current and future challenges and issues facing the community.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Provide a comprehensive overview for Gilbert’s Economic Development efforts, gain knowledge on economic programs and initiatives that drive and retain businesses in Gilbert along with a driving tour of major commerce areas with stops at two Gilbert-based businesses.

PUBLIC SAFETY
Provide an understanding of the various Public Safety functions that are the responsibility of the Town.  Understand how Police, Fire, and Courts interrelate. Introduce the student to opportunities to become involved with the Police, Fire and Court in Gilbert through CERT, the Citizens Police Academy, and other volunteer opportunities.

LEADERSHIP QUALITIES
The book, The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader by John C. Maxwell has been chosen to serve as the basis for the Gilbert Leadership component focusing on development of individual Leadership competencies. Various sections of the book will be examined and discussed at each issue day, with pre-assigned aspects to consider prior to the issue day.  The objective is to encourage class participants to do some self-reflection, and activate and empower their individual leadership capabilities.

CLASS PROJECT
Class is required to plan, organize, coordinate, and complete a service project in Gilbert. Class project is traditionally a hallmark of pride for the Leadership class. The type of scope for the project is determined by the talents, resources, and creativity of the class participants.

GRADUATION
After completion of all the class requirements you will join over 250+ Alumni students.
