About the Program
Since 1992, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has promoted the Gilbert Leadership program as a premier leadership program geared at addressing the needs of the Town of Gilbert. Gilbert Leadership is in the process of developing its 15th class of community representatives that have influenced the direction of Gilbert incorporating various professional disciplines and small business owners. Through the nine-month program, meeting on the third Friday of every month, Gilbert Leadership offers participants the opportunity to experience the various elements of the Town, all the while, incorporating leadership building skills that will promote participants to be professional, educated leaders within the Town.
During the nine months, participants will learn about their community, about becoming involved in their community, and ultimately, about leading their community. Each month, a new community involvement theme (issue) will be discussed. Each issue day will bring in current community leaders to explain their organization’s goals and objectives, and to integrate how those organizations relate to the Gilbert community.
Through this process, Gilbert Leadership is able to achieve its goals of:
- Encouraging local residents to start, design, lead and deliver locally generated initiatives and projects.
- Providing structured community leadership learning programs.
- Engaging active community and volunteer leaders to broaden their horizons and help them to become more effective within their communities.
Creating or extending a network of community and volunteer leaders to encourage contacts and involvement in similar work elsewhere in their lives.

The Gilbert Leadership program influences the community by building leadership capacity, increasing knowledge and awareness of community concerns, and by nurturing our future leaders.
